The Glycemic Fruit Index

Make sure to use the glycemic fruit index to determine appropriate fruits for your GI diet. As they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor at bay, well fortunately apples, as well as my other favourite; peaches are two fruits that are low on the glycemic fruit index. It is a brilliant plan to eat these kinds of fruits as an alternative to snacking on unhealthy cakes pastries, sweet fizzy drinks. They are also a healthy substitute for sweet desserts when included in a delicious fruit salad. By studying your glycemic fruit index chart closely, you can  prepare a healthy, low GI fruit list ready for your next shopping trip. Consign those unhealthy chips and snacks in your pantry to the bin, and stock up on healthier  fruity alternatives.

The Glycemic Index rates food and its carbohydrate content, any food that does not contain appreciable amounts of carbohydrate is not on the list. These "free foods" and can be consumed in reasonable quantities. The Glycemic Index provides an indication as to how fast, after eating a given amount of food, your blood sugar levels will increase. Food that is high on the GI can cause a rapid spike in  blood-sugar level  as they release large amounts of glucose into your body. Other internal functions will suffer as they try to keep up with the blood levels, this can put an additional strain on your system. Foods lower on the GI index are   healthier, fruit and vegetables are some of the lowest.

Different types of food  consumed during the day will all have different GI ratings. By paying close attention to the Glycemic Index list, you can monitor   your family's food intake and  help them on the road to a healthier lifestyle. Begin by eating more fruit and vegetables, along with wholegrain products.  Lettuce leaves,  parsnips,  Beans,  peas and beetroot are more examples of low GI foods that are available in most food shops,  and should be included in your diet.  Avoid starchy foods and  sugary snacks, they are full of empty calories and can be extremely disruptive to your system.

Not only will a low Glycemic Index diet  help you to get healthy lose weight and keep that unwanted weight off for life, it will also help to reduce your chances of contracting diabetes and heart problems.

Adhere to this diet, its impact can literally be life changing.  People from all walks of life have benefited by using the Glycemic Index. When eating properly, you will experience a day long controlled release of energy. This makes you feel healthy and energized and ready to take on the world.
